*Remember: check out the Artful Adventure dates; those wishing the Sea Kayaking Adventure trip format are welcome those weeks if there is space.*
If you enjoy the beauty of the tropics, adventure, sea kayaking, snorkeling, exploring Mayan ruins and swimming in the warm crystal waters of the Caribbean Sea - this trip is for you! The well-honed format of this trip is the foundation of Living Adventure Inc. Mexican travel and provides the definitive Yucatan Experience.
Manuella and Roberto and their son Johnny, the caretakers of the Ranch, graciously host us for the week; do not miss out on Manuella's chili rellenos or Roberto's fresh octopus seviche! Great food and camaraderie combine with what we feel are the best aspects of the area's natural and cultural environments to provide a weeklong itinerary we are confident you will savor far into the future.

LOCATION - Breathtaking! Our location is on a narrow land peninsula with the incredibly turquoise and clear Caribbean Ocean on one side and a labyrinth of quiet inland mangrove channels and lakes on the other. The World's second largest barrier reef, Palancar, stretches for hundreds of miles in front of us. Stunning coral, over 68 varieties, and marine life are just a paddle, swim, or boat excursion away. A rural crushed shell road is excellent for jogging and wonderful walks, as is the beach.
THE KAYAKING is fantastic! This is a perfect place to learn or to continue your kayaking experience. Directly across from our dock is Isla de Los Pajaros, a beautiful rookery island where you will see a great variety of tropical marine birds. Paddling north, we have an excellent day trip to the river that flows from the historic inland waterways of the Mayan out into the ocean. To the south you enter an intricate series of mangrove channels. On the front ocean side, you can play in the waves, paddle out to the reef or explore the coastline.
THE MEALS - Sumptuous! Expect to eat wonderfully fresh fruits and vegetables. Seafood will be prepared when available. Mexican meals include quesadillas, burritos, seafood enchiladas, lobster tacos, fresh corn tortillas and other specialty Yucatecan foods. All beverages are made from purified water and there's plenty of fresh-squeezed orange juice.
ALL ABOUT THE FACILITY!
TRIP LEADERS - The Best! Our trip leaders are skilled in international travel and will add immeasurably to your experience. We have been leading groups to the Yucatan for 10 years and know that our intimate knowledge of the area and our special inroads with local friends and treasured places will greatly enrich your experience.
BIRDING ENTHUSIASTS - Dr. Tarmo Poldmaa is an evolutionary ecologist with a penchant for birds. From auks to zebra finches and the Canadian Arctic to New Zealand, Tarmo has traveled the world studying bird behavior. This birdbrain will also dazzle you with his culinary and kayak teaching skills and is always willing to share a tale or two of his own adventures around the dinner table.
Special birding side trips take us to a quiet Mayan archeological site in the jungle and to an amazing inland ranch owned by friends where the Econciencia Nature Museum has officially documented 112 species of birds and 23 varieties of orchids.

| Day 1 |
Fly to Cancun and leave high impact tourism behind. The first night is spent at beautiful Posada Mariposa in the fun beachside resort town of Playa Del Carmen. |
| Day 2 |
Sunday morning we head to Rancho Caphe Ha, a quiet tropical paradise in the Sian Ka'an Biosphere Reserve. Mayan for "Where The Sky Is Born", this million-acre national park is abundant with indigenous flora and fauna and Mayan archeological sites. Settle in and familiarize yourself with the area, kayaks, snorkeling and to begin to unwind |
| Days 3- 7 |
A mix of activities designed each day according to weather and expectations. Some days will be spent at the Rancho - kayaking, snorkeling, exploring, fishing, relaxing - and others will be 'run-outs' to town, markets, Mayan archeological sites, and swimming in the cenotes.
WEDNESDAY OUTING: MAYAN SITE & CENOTES |
