January 14 – 21
Prepare yourself for one of the greatest vacations ever! Any one component alone of this week would make for a fabulous trip; but roll together kayaking, swimming, being outdoors in the beautiful Caribbean tropical environment, being with other women, AND a focus on life and self exploration - well, paradise comes to mind.
The hallmark of our thematic Yucatan trips is to join resource people from two cultures to bring an inter-cultural perspective to the experience. This week Colleen Troy, professional life-coach and mentor from Viroqua, WI joins dancer, singer and yoga teacher Leticia Rioja Medina from Playa Del Carmen, Mexico to share their areas of expertise with trip guests. The Living Adventure guide rounds out the trio and knits it all together with kayaking, and a variety of other land and sea based activities.

As in all of our Yucatan Trips, this is YOUR trip and you are welcome to participate in as many or few of the sessions presented during the week; we know that simply relaxing with no agenda can be as important as filling your time with even the most intriguing of activities. Life coaching sessions and yoga practice times will be planned initially in the week; but we are smart enough to know that the days will evolve; each evening we will shape the next day according to the energy of the group and expectations. Among and around these sessions will be fabulous meals, kayaking, relaxation and of course, the unknown activities and wonderful spontaneity enjoyed by women’s groups.
Specialty Offerings:
Life Coaching: Colleen Troy is a certified Martha Beck Life Coach and workshop presenter. She specializes in coaching women through times of transition; times to acknowledge the sacredness of the sum of all our paths and to connect with our authentic self. Colleen views coaching as exploring possibilities, uncovering dreams and being curious. “Coaching is a conversation around finding what might be missing in our lives and recreating our identities. It is a partnership that combines powerful tools to help energize your soul out of confusion and chaos and into focus towards a fulfilling life.” Life coaching also serves as a touchstone to reaffirm and celebrate our accomplishments, goal meeting and success in life posturing.
‘Body Compass’, ‘Thought Triggers’ and ‘Top Choice Feeling’ are a few of the tools and concepts Colleen utilizes during the week to guide participants through the exploratory journey. Check out more on Colleen at: www.colleentroycoaching.com.
Yoga: Leticia Rioja Medina is a long time Living Adventure friend who has worked with us on multiple trips including Yoga, Movement, and Women's trips. She brings aspects of Mayan and Nahuatl cultures to the week. Opening and closing ceremonies are marked with the deep beat of her 'grandmother' drum and the piney aroma of traditional copal incense. Leticia is a professional singer and dancer and a certified yoga teacher. A focus of her education was the interpretation, through movement, of meditative poses found on glyphs in ancient Mayan archeological sites.

| Day 1 |
Fly to Cancun and leave high impact tourism behind. The first night is spent at beautiful Posada Mariposa in the fun beachside resort town of Playa Del Carmen. |
| Day 2 |
Sunday morning: breakfast at 100% Natural restaurant in Playa Del Carmen. We’ll
introduce the group and resource people, hear your trip expectations and take a look at the
maps. After some shopping for beverages of your preference we head to Tulum. Here
we’ll pick up tamales for a quick lunch, buy ice and a few last items before heading down
the dirt road to Rancho Caphe Ha, our home for the week in the Sian Ka'an Biosphere
Reserve. Mayan for "Where The Sky Is Born", this million-acre national park is abundant
with indigenous flora and fauna and Mayan archeological sites. We’ll arrive midafternoon;
settle in, SWIM (!), familiarize you with the area, and the unwinding begins. |
| Day 3-7 |
Each day is a mix of activities designed according to life coaching and yoga sessions, weather and recreational pursuits. Each evening, the next day’s itinerary will be discussed and sequenced. Around those times, we’ll go kayaking, snorkeling, enjoy swimming and walking the beach, and relaxing. Remember; this is YOUR trip! You can choose to partake in as much or little of any planned (or unplanned) activities that you wish. |
| Day 8 |
An early start from Rancho Caphe Ha. We’ll travel back to Playa Del Carmen in time to
get an airport taxi for our trip guest with the earliest flight back to the US. Others spend
the day exploring, shopping and enjoying Playa until they need to also head to the airport. |
